Exclusion zone in place following chemical spill

An exclusion zone is in place at Kawana following a chemical spill this morning.

Multiple emergency services crews were called to the scene around 4.15am to reports of a hydrochloric acid spill in a warehouse on Alexandra Street.

Police have established an exclusion zone around the facility under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA), with boundaries encompassing Alexandra Street, Farm Street, Hollingsworth Street and Power Street.

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area and those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors until further notice.
