Charges upgraded for man over fatal Bouldercombe crash

More charges have been laid on a man accused of causing a fatal crash at Bouldercombe.

It’s alleged the 36-year-old Mount Morgan man was driving a Nissan Navara south along Razorback Road when it collided with a Mazda 323 on February 19.

A 73-year-old man and a 70-year-old woman in the Mazda sustained life-threatening injuries and were taken to Rockhampton Hospital.

The 70-year-old woman passed away a few days later while the 73-year-old man was discharged from hospital on March 13.

Police arrested the alleged driver of the Nissan, a 36-year-old Mount Morgan man, at a nearby residence in the afternoon of February 19.

He has now been charged with one count of manslaughter and one count of dangerous operation of a vehicle causing grievous bodily harm, in addition to two counts of driver fail to remain at incident, and one count each of driving without a licence, driving unregistered vehicle, driving uninsured vehicle and driving vehicle with false registration plates.

He has been remanded in custody and is expected to reappear at Rockhampton Magistrates Court on May 1.
